Behind the Design: The Making of Ivy Swimwear’s Femme Fatale Collection

Every Ivy Swimwear collection tells a story, and our latest drop—Femme Fatale—is no exception. This collection embodies power, seduction, and sophistication, blending multi-way lace, sheer fabrics, and sultry silhouettes to create bikinis that are as bold as the women who wear them. But before these designs came to life, they started as a vision.

The Inspiration: The Femme Fatale Archetype

A femme fatale is mysterious, confident, and effortlessly alluring—she owns every room she walks into, turning heads with her energy alone. We wanted to design a collection that captures this essence, using rich textures, structured silhouettes, and sensual details.

Our mood board was filled with old Hollywood glam, delicate lace lingerie, corsetry, and dramatic film noir aesthetics. Think black lace veils, sultry boudoir-inspired fabrics, and powerful yet feminine styling. Every piece in the collection had to feel like something you’d wear when making a statement—whether poolside or at a rooftop party under city lights.

From Sketch to Sample: The Design & Production Process

Once the concept was in place, our design team got to work creating sketches of each piece. We focused on a balance of romance and structure, ensuring each bikini had a unique design element while maintaining the signature Ivy Swimwear fit.

Key Design Features:

✨ Nocturna Monokini: A black lace one-piece with criss-cross ties for adjustable coverage—mysterious and seductive.

✨ Sage Bikini: Olive green with sheer removable sleeves and chiffon-trimmed booty shorts—elegant yet playful.

✨ Vesper Bikini: A black and white lace two-piece with mesh off-shoulder sleeves—modern with vintage flair.

✨ Oceana Bikini: Soft white lace over a cream base with a seashell emblem clasp—a dreamy, oceanic touch.

✨ Lani Bikini: A remake of our top selling off shoulder lace bikini. We re-introduced this design in a classic cream and black lace colourway.

After finalizing the designs, we moved into sampling, where we worked closely with our production team to perfect the fit and fabric selection. This stage is where we refine every detail—adjusting lace placements, testing different linings for comfort, and ensuring the push-up and tie-side features enhance the body in all the right ways.

The Creative Direction:

📸 Photography Style: A mix of soft, glowing light with deep shadows, emphasizing lace details and sheer elements.
🎭 Posing & Energy: A mix of delicate, elegant moments and bold, confident poses, channeling the femme fatale mystique.
🌆 Setting: Luxurious beach setting with vintage accents, like a golden mirror scene to a glamorous beach picnic aesethetic.

The marketing rollout followed a multi-phase approach, starting with sneak peeks and teaser clips leading up to launch. Influencers, giveaways, and styling videos helped showcase the collection’s versatility—whether worn as swimwear or styled for a night out.

Launch Day & What’s Next

Now, we've officially dropped Femme Fatale this week, and we can’t wait to see how you style it! This collection was designed to empower, enchant, and elevate, and we’re beyond excited to bring it to life.
